The New Zealand Ice Fernz returned home today, after securing a bronze medal at their 2023 IIHF World Championship Division 2, Group B event in South Africa.

The event was the first time the team has played at a World Championship event since 2020, due to the Coronavirus pandemic cancelling events in 2021 and 2022.

NZIHF President Andy Mills said that the bronze medal was a fantastic achievement for the team, and indicative of their hard work in the lead up to the tournament, especially given the lack of opportunity for the team to play together since 2020.
